Step 1: Go to aka.ms/mfasetup (NOTE: You can skip this step if you have already assigned a mobile number to your account during setup)


Step 2: Open the ‘App Store’ in your iPhone.



Step 3: Search for ‘Microsoft Authenticator’ and download the app (make sure you download the App from Microsoft Corporation).



Step 4: On your computer, open your preferred browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, etc) and go to https://outlook.live.com. Then click on ‘Sign In’.

Step 5: Sign in using your work account.


Step 6: Once you are logged in, click on your name on the top right side of Outlook, then click on ‘View Account’.

Step 7: A new window will open. From there, under the ‘Security info’ tile, click on ‘UPDATE INFO’.

Step 8: When the Security Info page loads, click on ‘Add sign-in method’ → ‘Choose a method’ → ‘Authenticator app’ → ‘Add’.

Step 9: Click ‘Next’ twice and you will be shown a QR code to scan using your Microsoft Authenticator app.

Step 10: On your iPhone, open the Microsoft Authenticator app and click on the plus (+) button at the top right side of the app.



Step 11: A new window will open and click on ‘Work or school account’.



Step 12: Scan the code that was given to you on the Outlook website.



Once you have scanned the code, the Microsoft Authenticator App will go to the main screen and you should be able to see your work email account in the list.


Step 13: On the browser, where you had the QR code, you will need to click on ‘Next’ and the following will happen:


  • You will get a 2-digits code on your web browser.

  • You will receive a Microsoft Authenticator notification on your iPhone. Write the 2-digits code in the Microsoft Authenticator App and then click on ‘Yes’.



Step 14: On your browser, you will see a success message ‘Notification approved’. Then click ‘Next.’


This will successfully setup MFA on your work account.
